On April 1, 1879, Western explorers discovered a small, ancient settlement in the foothills of Colorado. To this day, it is unknown how long the community of Asian immigrants inhabited the area of where they went. In honor of the discovery date, the community is known in Colorado folklore at "Spa 4179".
The Asian immigrants were "ofuroholics" or bath and body fanatics - fanatical about the benefits and pleasures of full-body massage. They practiced full-body massage, much of the time using scented oils - what we now call aromatherapy. Many believe that, even back in the 1800s, this sect was practicing exotic treatments, such as hot stone massages incorporating the use of hot, oiled, smooth desert stones.
Their focus was relaxation, rejuvenation, inner peace, and longevity and there was nothing medicinal about their practices. Much of their day was spent wrapped in towels and kimonos. Massage was not an infatuation; it was a lifelong love affair - a way of life.
Many believe this is why there was little or no sickness in the community - just relaxation, natural rejuvenation, and rest. Health and general well being were benefits of this lifestyle.
Now, the best of Spa 4179 has been recreated just for you. It is grand enough to make you feel like a party of a royal sect - the only people on planet earth known to fully enjoy the duration of their life. At the same time, it is small enough to be cozy and restful.
